Making some pots

Here I am making a pot using a rib made from a piece of wood from the pile of wood for the camp fire. I formed the basic pot using the pinch method.

I started with a small ball of clay; about the size of a tennis ball. Using my thumb, I made the initial opening into the clay ball, and then processed to squeeze and pinch the clay into a rough form. I then began to refine the shape.

By using the rib, I was able to get the thickness fairly even through the body of the pot. Once the pot had a form that I liked, I let it dry for a short time and then used the rib to clean and compress the outside of the pot to get a smoother finish.

Here I am making some finishing touches to a bowl using another tool I made from firewood scraps. I am working on cleaning up and forming the groove on the inside of the rim.
